Concealed within the enigmatic embrace of the Blue Ridge mountains, encircled by the sprawling wilderness that serves as the favored haunt for the planet's unparalleled hide-and-seek champion, resides EXPEDITION: BIGFOOT! The Sasquatch Museum of Blue Ridge, Georgia.
I embarked upon an expedition of my own last weekend, spurred by the mysterious allure of this unconventional birthday gift from my amazing wife.
Foreseeing a surplus of kitsch, I stepped through the museum's threshold, only to find myself swept away by the riveting allure and delightful amusement that the entire exhibit offered.
Filled with a tapestry of Bigfoot lore, embellished with vignettes of noteworthy encounters, the museum stands as a captivating chronicle of these enigmatic sightings.
Moreover, what truly piqued my curiosity was their huge assemblage of castings and the enthralling narratives chronicling the exploits of a myriad of Bigfoot hunters whom I know from shows and documentaries.
Notably, the museum also boasts a selection of astonishing curiosities. From petrified Bigfoot scat to a remarkably detailed butt cast, their eclectic collection extends into the realm of the extraordinary.
The only failing, in my opinion, is the way they handle the Bigfoot in Native American lore. There are moments when it is very respectful, with some great focus on the different names from different tribes. At other times, it borders on parody and leans too heavily into stereotype.
Overall, the experience was undeniably splendid. I recommend perusing their website and considering a visit for yourself when your travels lead you to the region.
If I am ever down that way, this will be a must for me. I love stuff like this.
Oh, wow, is that a diorama of that legendary battle between humans and Sasquatch in Ape Canyon on Mt. St. Helens?
